Plumbing has always been one of the "Mystical
Arts" of the construction industry. Not only that, especially in
the UK there is a shortage of Plumbers. This leads to Plumbers
picking and choosing which jobs they priorotise, and even which
jobs they completely avoid.The other thing that this causes is, the
prices that Plumbers charge for callout and labour also becomes
inflated as competition is low, and people desperate for
Plumbing Repairs pay whatever it takes.
Although some Plumbing Jobs should not be tackled by the DIY
Enthusiast, and indeed it is Illegal to do so, especially in the
case of Gas, where in the UK, the Plumber or Gas Fitter has to be
Corgi Registered or ACOPS Registered. There are many Plumbing
Installations and Plumbing Repairs that can be
carried out by a competent person with average DIY skills.
